Digital X-Rays
It is important to know that your doctor is keeping up with the constant and rapid advancements in modern technology. Digital x-rays are just one more advantage you will have at your disposal when you visit our office. Instead of using a conventional film, we use a special computer sensor which puts the x-ray picture directly into the computer and which allows us to reduce the amount of harmful radiation by nearly 90%. Since the pictures are in the computer, we can enhance the images to better diagnose conditions–often before they become problems. This proves to be much more convenient for you because the x-rays can then be displayed on the computer right in front of you!
Patient Benefits:
- Less exposure to radiation
- Faster turn-around time
- Shorter appointments
- Involvement in co-diagnosis
- Improved understanding of the treatment options
Intraoral Camera
An intraoral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your teeth and gums. These images allow us to make a more accurate diagnosis and develop a better treatment plan for each patient. A faster, more accurate diagnosis means less chair time for you! It also allows you to see everything we see and know everything we know!
Show and Tell
Many patients struggle to understand why they need complicated dental procedures when they aren’t experiencing any pain or see no visual evidence that the procedure is needed. Intraoral cameras allow patients to see the state of their mouths in real-time rather than being shown difficult-to-understand x-rays or listening to the explanation of the dentist. Instead, patients can see the doctor’s diagnosis with their own eyes.
Intraoral cameras are roughly the same size as a pen and are fitted with a camera and light. The camera then transmits the images to a computer screen or television monitor. You’ll be able to see right away a fractured tooth, abscess, or cavity. In the case of the intraoral camera, a picture may be worth more than a thousand words!
Perio Protect®
Perio Protect® is a method that is customized for each patient to help manage the communities of bacteria that grow in the spaces or pockets between teeth and gums. Perio Protect® is designed to manage these colonies of bacteria using minimally invasive dentistry and, combined with traditional periodontal treatments, to help promote lasting oral health.
About The Procedure
The Perio Protect® procedure begins with a chemical therapy treatment that is applied using a tray with doctor-prescribed solutions. The chemicals are designed to debride (remove) the bacteria from the pockets around the teeth and gums.
The treatment can be performed at home, in between office visits to help manage the growth of bacteria in the pockets. Each person’s treatment will be unique, as your dentist will choose the most appropriate solution for your case. The entire treatment lasts only minutes each day and is non-invasive.
The Perio Protect® Method may be combined with scaling and root planing or surgical therapies to achieve the best possible results and to restore your mouth to lasting oral health.
